What the result can—and cannot—mean

Published raw-score examples overlap and official forms use equating. Compass therefore displays every plausible example level instead of one false-precision answer.

Source registry notice

Compass estimates Listening, Reading, and Writing only. Speaking practice is included but not assessed, so no complete CELPIP result or immigration eligibility is produced.

Three interpretation rules

  1. An overlap is evidence of uncertainty, not a software error.
  2. Review the missed task families before chasing a single level number.
  3. Writing and Speaking need trained assessment and remain outside the objective estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Why are several levels sometimes shown?

Published examples overlap because the score needed can vary with form difficulty and equating.

Does a reported level equal a raw mark?

No. The testing organization reports an equated level; raw practice marks are only study evidence.

Can Compass provide a complete result?

No. Writing is not rater-scored and Speaking is not assessed.
